内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Background: Smartphone use among older adults is increasing, so the use of ICT for health-related purposes is expected to increase. However, it is unclear whether the use of ICT has an impact on the acquisition of exercise habits. We therefore investigated factors that influence the presence or absence of an exercise habit, especially ICT-related factors, in elderly volunteers.
Methods: The target population was community-dwelling people aged ≥65 years. We surveyed volunteers on the presence or absence of an exercise habit, whether or not exercise videos using ICT equipment were viewed, their confidence in exercising, and their subjective view of health. Univariate statistical analysis was conducted to compare two groups according to having or lacking exercise habits, and logistic regression analysis was used to calculate odds ratios for independent factors related to exercise habits in the group without exercise habit.
Results: The two significant independent associated factors for the lacking exercise habit were the responses ‘I don’t feel I am full of vitality’ and ‘I don’t watch exercise related videos online’.
Conclusion: Our results suggest that older adults without an exercise routine may have a subjective decline in vitality and are very unlikely to take advantage of online exercise videos.
